D.J. Gregory- Author 6-6-09

A golf enthusiast and cerebral palsy patient describes his year of traveling with the PGA tour at the sides of many of his professional heroes, a journey marked by his walks through each of the courses on which the golfers played, his witness to tournament events, and an array of unique physical challenges.

D.J. Gregory fell in love with golf at the age of twelve, when he first began watching the game on television and attending local tournaments with his dad. But unlike many other golf fans, D.J. never dreamed of playing professionally. He never thought of becoming a ranked amateur, or even a caddie.

When D.J. was an infant, doctors told his parents that he would probably spend his life in a wheelchair because of his cerebral palsy. But that didn't keep D.J. from trying to beat the odds, enduring five surgeries, learning to walk with a cane, and eventually earning college degrees in sports management. Golf had always remained D.J.'s passion, and in 2008, he decided to make a dream come true -- to travel the country and walk with a different player at each event on the PGA Tour.

From the first event on the island of Maui, through the season-ending tournament at Disney World, D.J. lived out a sports fantasy unlike any other. Every week of the tour, he traveled to a tournament where he walked every round with the greatest golfers in the world: Boo Weekley, an affable country boy who went on to be the hero of the Ryder Cup...Davis Love III, whose twentieth career win earned him a lifetime card in the PGA...and Kenny Perry, the forty-eight-year-old veteran who, like the last days of a bright nova, made his final professional moments in 2008 the hottest and most brilliant of his career.

For D.J., it was the most exciting year of his life, a physically challenging but emotionally rewarding adventure filled with wonderful people, unforgettable moments, and cherished memories. "Walking with Friends" is a book for all the fans who live for the love of the game, for the dreamers and doers who make things happen, and for the friends who help us walk through the journey of life.

TALY MIND Set

The MIND Set® from TALY® is the revolutionary mechanical device for improving your performance in golf. The MIND Set introduces an engineered mental reference point for your golf swing called a Talynt® point in the form of a red ball. Your Talynt point takes the emphasis away from your physical ability and brings it to the mental level. Once you accept the unique approach of using a Mental Reference Point to free your thoughts, your golf swing will become intuitive, natural, and consistently accurate.

The Taly Company was developed to raise the bar on scoring and increase people's enjoyment of sport. The company brings a revolutionary approach to the world of athletics; one that breaks through the mental barrier and unleashes the next level of performance.

Founded by Taly Williams, the company’s mission is to take sport to a new, heightened dimension where people score with confidence by trusting their talent.

Taly Williams, President and CEO

Taly Williams is a professional engineer and a former professional athlete. Taly is the nation's leading authority on MIND Mechanics® and holds a Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Engineering from the University of Waterloo.

Taly used his skill and aptitude to develop a revolutionary mechanical device for the game of golf called The MIND SetTM from TALY®. Taly created The MIND Set because he recognized that people were frustrated with the game and it didn't make sense that he himself couldn't consistently play well.

Golf is a difficult sport, and even with great practice it is still difficult to transfer your skills to the course. Taly understood that people often lose mental focus and succumb to the pressure of the game. He also recognized that the greatest challenge in golf is performing when it counts.

So Taly developed a tool for the mental game which ensures that one's focus, mental stamina, and confidence are all in sync and elevated at the appropriate moment. The MIND Set draws from the fields of mathematics, science, psychology and engineering and acts as a compass to guide the player through their golf swing.

The MIND Set is based on a revolutionary new science called MIND Mechanics, where you Move Your MINDTM and your body will follow! The bar has been raised on scoring, and MIND Mechanics will free professionals to consistently shoot in the fifties
